Nissan unveils a completely restyled Micra

The Japanese manufacturer Nissan had announced a revolution that would be presented at the Paris Motor Show, one of the most important auto shows in the world. It is true that fans of electric cars were hoping for something new in this area, but they were still not disappointed since the revolution took the form of a small car that caused a lot of talk: the new Nissan Micra 2017.

NISSAN MICRA REMAINS ONE OF THE MOST AFFORDABLE CARS ON THE MARKET

And it was the president of the Renault-Nissan Alliance himself, Mr. Carlos Ghosn, who made this unveiling, which looked like historic news. Why historical? Because this new Nissan Micra, which for the moment will not be offered in North America, marks the return of manufacturing to Renault factories in France.

The Nissan Micra will therefore now have two faces: the one sold here, which makes it one of the most affordable and fun to drive cars on the market. And one, restyled, that will take the streets of Europe by storm in the coming months. It might be surprising that this decision was made, but the executives at Nissan made it clear: The North American Nissan with its curves and capabilities was designed for us. The news, inspired by the Sway concept that was unveiled last year in Geneva, resolutely focuses on qualities that appeal to Europeans, but a little less to North Americans than we are. These differences can be seen especially in details like the size of the cup holders, reduced to almost nothing on the European version when Canadians will still need a space to accommodate their "double-double" coffee. The trunk is also smaller, as is the glove compartment.

Physically, the new Nissan Micro Euro is more aerodynamic, bordering on coupe style. Another request formulated directly by European consumers, who particularly appreciate the Renault Clio for its unique shapes, a car which now shares its platform with the new Micra.

Mechanically, the Micra Euro is also unique. It uses a very small 0.9-liter 3-cylinder Renault engine producing just 89 horsepower, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. However, just because the mechanics are small doesn't mean the Nissan Micra isn't bursting with technology.

It includes, among other things, a revolutionary audio installation by Bose (two mini speakers in the headrest simulate the effect of a subwoofer), a connected 7-inch multimedia touch screen, a crossing alert unintentional line, an emergency call and automatic emergency braking, which the North American version does not offer.

THE 2016 NISSAN MICRA FOR LESS THAN $ 10,000 WITH US

With us, the 2016 Nissan Micra starts at $ 9,988 before taxes and preparation. Despite its price tag, the Micra offers a fun ride and decent performance, plus truly impressive fuel economy.
